Pakistan's Military Chief Denies Foreign Assistance

(MENAFN) Pakistan’s top military commander, Field Marshal Gen. Asim Munir, strongly criticized what he described as unfounded "insinuations" about "external support" during the recent "purely bilateral" hostilities with India.

His remarks followed statements by a senior Indian military official, who implied that Pakistan had more than one ally in the brief but intense conflict.

Addressing newly commissioned officers at the National Defense University in Islamabad, Gen. Munir emphasized that such claims were both "irresponsible and factually incorrect."

Specifically referencing Pakistan’s success in Operation Bunyanum Marsoos, he asserted that allegations of foreign involvement undermined the nation’s indigenous military competence.

According to an official communication from the army’s media division, Gen. Munir further stated that these accusations reflect a persistent unwillingness to recognize the nation’s self-developed strength and institutional stability, forged through years of careful strategic planning.

The controversy arose after India’s Deputy Army Chief, Lt. Gen. Rahul Singh, alleged that China had supplied Islamabad with “live inputs” during the four-day missile exchange in May.

The confrontation, involving two nuclear-capable neighbors, concluded after the United States facilitated a ceasefire agreement.

During a public seminar, Lt. Gen. Singh asserted that India faced dual opponents in the confrontation, describing Pakistan as the primary force while claiming China extended comprehensive support.

In response, Gen. Munir criticized India’s explanation for its limited achievements in Operation Sindoor.

He argued that the failure to meet declared military goals, followed by an attempt to justify the outcome through “convoluted logic,” highlighted serious gaps in operational preparedness and strategic insight on India’s part.
